Walkability is the way of things along Knox Henderson, where you’re never more than a few blocks from a buzzing place to hang out, grab a bite, and meet new friends. As the name suggests, centered along Henderson Avenue, which bridges the gap between Highland Park to the west and Lower Greenville to the east, the corridor features plenty to do in its own right.

Stop by Louie’s, a Henderson fixture since 1987, for pizza and a proper dive-bar welcome, or Gemma for a seasonal menu that has earned it a place in the Michelin Guide. Some of the best gastropubs around, like The Old Monk, do business up by Willis, and Tei Tei Robata Bar grills over charcoal a few doors down. Cochran Park is laid back and local, but if DJs and dancing are more your speed, head to Candleroom. For an evening in, Sprouts is happy to oblige with a varied beer selection and plenty of fresh produce. And if all you want is giant Jenga (and perhaps a round of Street Fighter II), Barcadia can make it happen.
